Husband and wife team, Mike and Antonia developed Canary & Kitchen from an idea to bring stylish, exciting menus to more people, through unique dining experiences. We strive to create an opportunity to escape the formality of a fine-dining restaurant environment and enjoy excellent cuisine and friendly service in the relaxed, familiar comfort of your own home or at our new restaurant now open in Aston Fields.Mike was born and raised in Solihull and has been heavily influenced by Birmingham in his food, always excited by spices, fragrance and the unusual. Mike has been cooking for several years for family & friends, reaching new ambitious heights in 2019, becoming a MasterChef UK contestant in the 15th series of the popular BBC show.

Following his appearance, Mike and Antonia started their home dining business.

Canary & Kitchen was first born from a play on words about Antonia’s upbringing in the Canary Islands – a ‘Canarian Kitchen’ where food is king and local cuisine does not shy away from punchy flavours from humble ingredients. This is our foundation. This is Canary & Kitchen.

Following 4 successful years of running our home dining service, the opportunity to open our own small restaurant presented itself. We had always loved the idea of a FUN-dining twist to the fine-dining experience. The restaurant has been designed as a Spanish ‘Casita’ meaning small wooden house. We wanted the restaurant to look and feel like a home away from home, somewhere you don’t want to leave. The restaurant can fit eight people and has a cosy “Spanish casita” feel next to Bromsgrove Train Station, on the cross-city line from Birmingham New Street. There is one sitting per night at 7pm and menus are based on recipes tried and tested through the private home dining experience, which is continuing alongside the restaurant.
